Bachelor programme in Business Administration (B.A.)

Learning objectives

The Bachelor programme in Business Administration offers an initial professional academic degree. It will make you learn how to solve practical business issues independantly by using scientific research and methodology.

A hands-on approach applied across all modules will allow you to successfully access technical or management positions in the job market after a limited period of studies. The degree does not limit you to a single career profile. Those interested may follow the BA up with a two-year Master offered by Fachhochschule Bielefeld among others.

Careers

Graduates will take up specialist technical or management positions, performing challenging tasks in private business or public institutions and authorities or creating their own businesses in the professions. Your careers will be in Distribution, Marketing, Finance and Accounting, Controlling, Organisation and Information Systems, HR, Training, Logistics, Auditing and Tax Consulting.

Course of studies

The assessment phase spanning three semesters will provide an introduction to Business Administration preparing the ensuing profiling phase. This phase offers options for specialization in a major (5 modules of 4 hours per week) and, if you wish so, a minor (3 modules of 4 hours per week). You may choose additional modules to suit your personal interests. The profiling phase spanning three semesters comprises a Bachelor thesis and a 12-week corporate project.

Corporate project
All students are required to start semester 6 with a 3-month project in a private company or a suitable organization. This project will allow you to make practical use of the knowledge and skills acquired and to evaluate your experience.

Study-abroad semester
You have the option to spend one semester at one of the partner universities of the Faculty of Business and Health. This period gives you the chance to familiarize with business issues of other countries and to improve your language skills.
