Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences orientates its research profile to the global social challenges of the future, concentrating in particular on the compelling issues of climate and energy, health, mobility and communication.
It amalgamates its research activities in institutes and in key research and development areas. It promotes the outstanding research work of individual scientists. Young scientists are qualified in further education courses and in doctoral programmes in collaboration with other universities.
The diversity of Bielefeld UAS can be seen from the wide range of humanities, arts, natural sciences and engineering subjects on offer in the prospectus. This diversity forms the basis for the distinct interdisciplinary nature of the research initiatives.
There are currently five research institutes and one research network at Bielefeld UAS. There are also numerous research projects, some involving other universities, institutions or companies and other external partners. Early stage researchers are qualified through cooperative doctorates and via the Graduate School for Applied Research in North Rhine-Westphalia (Promotionskolleg NRW).
