Working Group Grids and Energy Systems

In view of the grid integration of decentralized and regenerative energy producers and new active loads, such as electric vehicles and smart homes, the electrical energy system is faced with new challenges. In the working group Grids and Energy Systems (German: Arbeitsgruppe Netze und Energiesysteme, AGNES) we do research on technical solutions for grid monitoring, grid control and grid management. Our research focuses on the cellular approach, through self-organizing hierarchical grid cells across all voltage levels.

In research projects, we explore possible solutions for the integration of electric vehicles and renewable energy systems into the electrical grid, the integration of intelligent grid and measurement technology and the use of AI-based systems for grid operation by developing procedures and methods for controlling and observing cellular grids.
