To integrate weather-dependent energies firmly into the power grid, a forecast of the energy yield is very important. This paper is about renewable energy generation by photovoltaic (PV) systems. The yield of PV-systems depends not only on weather conditions, but in wintertime also on the additional factor “snow cover”. The aim of this work is to detect snow cover on photovoltaic plants to support the energy yield forecast. For the generation of the 3D models we flow over a test area in Bielefeld, Germany by plane and generated the model. The plane had a 100-megapixel sensor system from Danish company Phase One. We started to classify cut out building parts. The results show that the presented method is able to classify single building parts. The classification precision of balcony, window, gable and chimney are 93%, 90%, 54% and 88% respectively. Using open source software on a RaspberryPi 3 with some plug-in sensors for temperature, pressure, CO2 and humidity data sets every minute are stored in an universal data base. Data analysis gives good results in recognition of ventilation states inside the apartment, which can be used to give ventilation advices to the apartment users in time of renovation, to avoid bad air quality and mould groth. Prediction and recognition of different faults in large PV-arrays are very important for the effective operation\r\nof PV-plants. Different PV-Systems are monitored with a large amount of data collected. The monitoring data is\r\ncombined with weather data from free internet sources. The challenge in this work is using intelligent data analysis\r\nmethods of data mining technology for a fault detection of different failure types in real PV-plants.
