The efficiency of solar modules is an important value for the monitoring and planning of PV-systems. The efficiency of a-Si solar modules shows no significant changes in the performance ratio at clouded or clear sky conditions. Recognition and\r\nprediction of faults in large PV-systems are important for effective economic operation of PV-plants. Contemporary\r\nmethods like electroluminescence need to disassemble PV-modules in the field. Our work will show that faults like\r\nbroken cells can be detected automatically in working PV-modules by thermal imaging. We show a method of extracting the parameters of the “threediode\r\nmodel” during light-induced degradation. The “three-diode model” describes the tandem layout of the\r\namorphous (a-Si) and the microcrystalline (μc-Si) silicon-based thin film solar cells: a-Si is described by the onediode\r\nmodel, the μc-Si by the two-diode model. Both solar cells are connected in series. By this series connection, the\r\nthree-diode model can be used to describe the cell.
